SIRAKOSS Ltd has been announced as the winner of the 2014 Armourers & Brasiers’ Venture Prize. The £25,000 prize in the form of an investment into the enterprise, is judged on a competitive basis by a committee of commercial, financial and scientific experts, and seeks expansion of the economic impact of materials science in the UK by supporting businesses of commercial value. Brian Butchart, CEO of SIRAKOSS commented, “In a very competitive field we are delighted to have won this award which recognises the outstanding material science in the development of our synthetic bone graft and the clearly defined commercial opportunity. Receiving this recognition from the Worshipful Company of Armourers & Brasiers, which with its origins dating back to 1322 must be the oldest organisation supporting materials science in Britain, is a huge endorsement of the development efforts undertaken by the SIRAKOSS team and in particular Prof. Iain Gibson and Jordan Conway”.
